OAT: Saudações! É uma honra ter sua participação em nosso Occultus Ars Tenebrae.
A: Eu aprecio a atenção e o apoio, com certeza. Obrigado.
OAT: Fale um pouco para nós como foi o ano de 2016 e o início de 2017 para o Mork.
A: 2016 foi um grande tanto para Mork como meu próprio projeto e para Mork como uma banda ao vivo. Eu lancei o segundo álbum "Den Vandrende Skygge" na maioria dos formatos; CD, vinil, fita e assim por diante. Mork como uma banda ao vivo tocou em vários países; Noruega, Dinamarca, Canadá, Áustria, Turquia e Espanha. O nome tem crescido rápido neste ano passado e o apoio tem sido incrível.
OAT: O que o nome Mork significa para a banda? E de onde saiu a ideia e a inspiração para esse nome?
A: Eu vim com o nome de volta em 2004, quando eu estava experimentando com Black Metal pela primeira vez. O nome deriva de uma palavra norueguesa para podre ou decaído; Morken. Abreviei-o para Mork e o nome ficou preso. Era realmente um nome importante e uma inspiração para a música. O chamado "nekro", você sabe.
OAT: De onde vem a inspiração para suas letras e melodias?
A: Principalmente a inspiração é tirada da natureza do leste da Noruega. Algumas melodias e letras são inspiradas por sentimentos de raiva, ódio, depressão, mistério e outras emoções. Tento escrever música com a sensação de mística e escuridão.
OAT: Quais são os planos da banda para o ano de 2017?
A: Eu tenho um novo álbum pronto, que acabou muito bom. Até mesmo a arte está pronta e feita por Jannicke Wiese, que fez as primeiras artes do Burzum. Há um casal de convidados especiais no álbum, também. Artefatos assassinos. Então, vou tentar levá-lo para o povo em algum momento. E temos fome de tocar em mais shows, é claro.
OAT: A banda tem planos de vir ao Brasil no futuro?
A: Mork está disposto a tocar em qualquer lugar, contanto que consigamos reservas. Brasil e América do Sul seria uma grande coisa para experimentar. Eu conheço músicos que tocaram lá e todos têm grandes coisas a dizer sobre isso.
OAT: Como é a sensação de serem comparados com as bandas Burzum e Darkthrone?
A: Ao escrever música para Mork sou muito influenciado por essas duas bandas, então isso é bastante natural. Se as pessoas consideram minha música na mesma escala que Darkthrone e Burzum, eu seria honrado. Duas bandas muito importantes para mim e para a história do Black Metal. Vale a pena mencionar que foi uma explosão ter Nocturno Culto estabelecer os vocais para uma música no álbum dos últimos anos.
OAT: Há alguma banda ou artista que o inspirou a criar o Mork?
A: A primeira banda de black metal que eu ouvi e vi ao vivo foi Mayhem. Então eu diria que Mayhem, Dimmu Borgir e Burzum foram as primeiras faíscas para eu criar black metal por conta própria. Mais tarde tem sido principalmente Darkthrone e Burzum. Eu tenho uma história musical antes de entrar no black metal, é claro, que também tem sido a espinha dorsal do meu songwriting. Bandas clássicas como AC / DC, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Pink Floyd e assim por diante.
OAT: O video clipe de vocês entitulado como I Sluket Av Myra que foi todo produzido em uma floresta completamente vazia é muito bom. Quem foi o responsável por sua criação? E de onde veio a inspiração para este ótimo trabalho?
A: O vídeo foi filmado por mim e Daniel Pedersen (punkrockphoto) na floresta perto de Halden. Daniel é responsável pela edição e resultado final. Um cara muito talentoso, com certeza. Ele provavelmente fará o próximo vídeo também. Quanto ao vídeo em si nunca houve quaisquer planos ou storyboard. Nós basicamente saímos para a floresta e começamos a atirar. Felizmente, resultou muito bem.
OAT: Qual conselho a banda tem pra dar pra quem está começando a formar uma nova banda na cena do metal extremo?
A: Você tem que ser extrovertido e uma pessoa social, sem dúvida. Você tem que fazer algo de qualidade e tentar adicionar alguma originalidade no topo. Hora certa, lugar certo e nunca desista.
OAT: Como vocês enxergam a cena extrema de sua região atualmente?
R: Há tantas bandas e pessoas talentosas. E há, naturalmente, alguns que não estão à altura, que apenas tentam muito apenas para ser "black metal. Nos tempos modernos em que vivemos não há obstáculos para as pessoas que desejam fazer música. Você tem a capacidade de ter seu próprio estúdio e usar meios sociais para promover o seu produto. Então, como eu disse, há muitas bandas lá fora. Estou realmente apreciativo de ver o Mork realmente fazer uma marca neste mar de música.

OAT: Tell us a bit about the year 2016 and the beginning of 2017 for Mork.
A: 2016 was a big one both for Mork as my own project and for Mork as a live band. I got to release the second album "Den Vandrende Skygge" on most formats; cd, vinyl, tape and so on. Mork as a live band got to play several countries; Norway, Denmark, Canada, Austria, Turkey and Spain. The name has grown fast this last year and the support has been amazing.
OAT: What does the name Mork mean to the band? And where did the idea and inspiration come from for that name?
A: I came up with the name back in 2004, when I was experimenting with Black Metal for the first time. The name derives from a norwegian word for rotten or decayed; Morken. I shortened it to Mork and the name stuck. It really was an important name and inspiration for the music. So-called "nekro", you know.
OAT: Where does the inspiration for your lyrics and melodies come from?
A: Mostly the inspiration is taken from the nature of eastern Norway. Some melodies and lyrics is inspired by feelings of anger, hate, depression, mystery and other emotions. I try to write music with the feeling of mystique and darkness.
OAT: What are the plans of the band for the year 2017?
A: I have a new album ready, which turned out really good. Even the artwork is ready and done by Jannicke Wiese, who did the first Burzum artworks. There are a couple of special guests on the album, as well. Killer stuff. So, I will try to get it out to the people at some point. And we are hungry to play more shows, of course.
OAT: Does the band have plans to come to Brazil in the future?
A: Mork are willing to play anywhere as long as we get booket. Brazil and south-america would be a great thing to experience. I know musicians who has played there and they all have great things to say about it.
OAT: How does it feel to be compared to the bands Burzum and Darkthrone?
A: When writing music for Mork I am very much influenced by those two bands, so that is quite natural. If people consider my music on the same scale as Darkthrone and Burzum, I would be honored. Two very important bands for myself and Black Metal history. It is worth mentioning that it was a blast having Nocturno Culto laying down vocals for one song on last years album.
OAT: Are there any bands or artists that inspired you to create Mork?
A: The first black metal band I heard and saw live was Mayhem. So I would say that Mayhem, Dimmu Borgir and Burzum was the first sparks for me to create black metal on my own. Later it has been mostly Darkthrone and Burzum. I do have a musical history before entering black metal, of course, which also has been the backbone of my songwriting. Classic bands like AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Pink Floyd and on and on.
OAT: The video clip of you titled as I Sluket Av Myra that was all produced in a completely empty forest is very good. Who was responsible for its creation? And where did the inspiration for this great work come from?
A: The video was shot by myself and Daniel Pedersen (punkrockphoto) in the woods near Halden. Daniel is responsible for the editing and final outcome. A very talented guy, for sure. He will probably do the next video as well. Regarding the video itself it was never any plans or story board. We basically went out into the forest and started to shoot. Luckily it turned out very well.
OAT: What advice does the band have to give to those who are starting to form a new band in the extreme metal scene?
A: You have to be outgoing and a social person, no doubt. You have to make something of quality and try to add some originality on top. Right time, right place and never give up.
OAT: How do you see the extreme scene in your region these days?
A: There are so many bands and talented people. And there are of course some who aren't up to par, who just try too hard just to "be" black metal. In the modern times we live in there is no hindrance for people who wish to make music. You have the ability to have your own studio and use social medias to promote your product. So, like i said, there's lot's of bands out there. I am really appreciative to see Mork actually making a mark in this sea of music.
