Entramos em contato com a banda Arcanus de Death Metal de Barcelona, que responderam uma entrevista para o Occultus Ars Tenebrae Webzine. Esta entrevista foi respondida pelo vocalista Oscar Gallardo e pelo guitarrista Victor Vallespir. Confiram!!

OAT: Por que a banda se chama Arcanus? De onde veio esse nome?
Arcanus: Nós sempre amamos essa palavra, é muito poderosa. Queríamos chamar a banda com apenas uma palavra que significasse tudo. Arcanus veio de Arcano, os misteriosos, um belo conceito relacionado com o Esoterismo e misticismo.
OAT: A banda tem planos de vir ao Brasil?
Arcanus: Nós desejamos poder ir aí em breve! Esperamos alcançar o maior número possível de países no futuro. E, se o povo brasileiro nos quiser ... então porque não ir para o Brasil?
OAT: De onde a banda tira inspiração para suas melodias?
Arcanus: Nós obtemos inspiração de todos os lugares que podemos, tentando representar em nossa música as coisas na vida que nos afetam, mas também tentando não dar lições educacionais a ninguém. Nós gostamos de nos expressar com nossas próprias palavras e música, sendo nossas canções sobre fictícios ou reais sucessos.
OAT: Qual é o significado da capa do mais recente EP Ashes lançado pela banda que é uma fênix?
Arcanus: A obra de arte, criada pelo artista brasileiro Gustavo Sazes, representa uma fênix que nasce das cinzas do inferno. Você pode encontrar este conceito na canção Emptiness, na frase "renascido como uma fênix!".
OAT: Como foi para a banda ter sua capa de capa feita pelo brasileiro Gustavo Sazes?
Arcanus: Trabalhar com um profissional como Gustavo foi incrível. Ele realmente compreendeu o conceito de nossa música e criou uma arte de capa muito bonita. Nós realmente queremos fazer mais álbuns com ele.
OAT: O que a banda espera fazer em 2017?
Arcanus: Esperamos alcançar tantas pessoas quanto pudermos e obter o maior número possível de shows. Queremos crescer como uma banda e, claro, queremos começar a pensar no nosso próximo álbum.
OAT: A banda faz com que quem ouve a canção Oceans of Blood sentir nas guerras do Oriente Médio. O que a banda pensa sobre os ataques e atitudes dos extremistas islâmicos?
Arcanus: É muito triste, realmente. "As crianças são a força para matar seus entes queridos" é uma frase dessa canção, e isso está realmente acontecendo. Tem que parar, não podemos viver com medo.
OAT: A banda se sente como se fosse underground na cena? E que conselho a banda tem para dar àqueles que pretendem começar na cena?
Arcanus: Você tem que mudar de alguma forma a atitude e parar de pensar que você pertence ao subterrâneo. Precisamos sentir que estamos tentando fazer algo especial, e essa atitude é muito importante. Você tem que acreditar em algo, mas, obviamente, é muito difícil ganhar a vida com a música. O segredo é fazer o que você ama, não importa o quê.
OAT: Como foi a adaptação do novo baixista Denis Fernádez na banda?
Arcanus: Ele fez um trabalho tremendo e ajudou o nosso álbum a soar tão grandioso quanto é agora. Não temos palavras para agradecer-lhe.
OAT: Como foi a gravação de seu primeiro trabalho no Barcelona Axtudios com a parceiria do Sr. Ax, que realizou o trabalho de mixagem e masterização?
Arcanus: Foi uma experiência fantástica trabalhar com o Sr. AX, que é um produtor excelente e uma grande pessoa ao lidar com ele. Nós não poderíamos estar mais felizes com o resultado e o recomendamos para qualquer banda em Barcelona, que quer gravar um novo álbum.

OAT: Why is the band called Arcanus? Where did this name come from?
Arcanus: We always loved that word, it is very powerful. We wanted to call the band with just one word that means everything. Arcanus came from Arcane, the mysterious ones, a beautiful concept related to the Esotericism and mysticism.
OAT: Does the band have plans to come to Brazil?
Arcanus: We wish we can get there sometime soon! We expect to reach as many countries as we can in the future. And, if Brazilian people wants us there... then why not going to Brazil?
OAT: Where does the band draw inspiration for their melodies?
Arcanus: We do get inspiration from everywhere we can, trying to represent in our music the things in life that affect us but also trying not to give educational lessons to anyone. We like to express ourselves with our own words and music, being our songs about either fictional or real successes.
OAT: What is the meaning of the cover of the latest EP Ashes released by the band that is a phoenix?
Arcanus: The artwork, created by the Brazilian artist Gustavo Sazes represents a Phoenix rising from the ashes of hell. You can find this concept in the song Emptiness, in the phrase "born again as a phoenix!".
OAT: How was it for the band to have their cover art done by the Brazilian Gustavo Sazes?
Arcanus: Working with a professional like Gustavo was amazing. He really understood the concept of our music and created a very beautiful cover art. We really want to do more albums with him.
OAT: What does the band expect to do in 2017?
Arcanus: We hope to reach as many people as we can and to get as many shows as possible. We want to grow as a band and, of course, we want to start thinking on our next album.
OAT: The band makes whoever hears the song Oceans of Blood feel in the wars of the Middle East. What does the band think about the attacks and attitudes of Islamic extremists?
Arcanus: It is very sad, really. 'Children are force to kill their loved ones' is a phrase from that song, and that is really happening. It has to stop, we cannot live in fear.
OAT: Does the band feel like it's underground in the scene? And what advice does the band have to give to those who intend to start on the scene?
Arcanus: You have to change in some way the attitude and stop thinking that you belong to the underground. We need to feel that we are trying to do something special, and that attitude is very important. You have to believe in something, but obviously it is very difficult to make a living with music. The secret is to do what you love no matter what.
OAT: How was the adaptation of the new bassist Denis Fernádez in the band?
Arcanus: He did a tremendous job and helped our album to sound as great as it is right now. We cannot thank him enough.
OAT: How did the band record their first work at Barcelona Axtudios with Mr. Ax's partner who got the job mixed and mastered?
Arcanus: It was a fantastic experience to work with Mr. AX, who is an enormous producer and a great person to deal with. We could not be happier with the result and we recommend him for any band in Barcelona which wants to record a new album.
